If you're interested in taking part in this project, all you need to do is fill in the form at the bottom of the page. For those requiring an alternative format, video and audio submissions are also welcomed.

Priority will be given to those from underrepresented backgrounds. If you are selected, you will be given a series of prompts to answer, relating to your experiences. Examples can include "what does trans joy mean to you?" and "do you have any experiences with accessing healthcare?"

When the photos are done, a number of them will then be posted on our website and socials, accompanied by your answers to the prompts. We'll also send you all the finished photos for you own personal use.

Our theme for 2023 is Trans Joy, and our planned dates/locations are as follows:

The vast majority of photoshoots will take place outdoors, and the photos will all be quite natural in style, though you are welcome to bring along any props that you would like to feature. If you feel like you want some moral support during the session you are more than welcome to bring along a pet, friend, partner or family member - we can even include them in the photos if you would like to!

Portrait sessions usually take around an hour and a half, though we'll spend some of that time chatting, so we can get comfortable around each other. The majority of these sessions will take place outdoors, so if you have any anxiety or safety concerns about having your photos taken in public, please let us know and we can aim to find a quiet location/time.

Participation is open to anyone who identifies as trans or non-binary (along with those who are gender-non-conforming but would prefer not to label themselves). Anyone who wants to take part but lives in a location that we are currently unable to reach will be placed on a waiting list.

Priority is given to Black folks, Asian folks and any People of Colour, those who are disabled, and anyone over the age of 40. 50% of all our photo-day spaces are always reserved for People of Colour. Visibility isn't truly visibility until ALL members of the community are seen.

Our theme for 2023 is Trans Joy!

Being trans right now can be grueling - with long NHS waiting lists for treatment, hostility from the media and politicians, along with the every day troubles that we face, it can sometimes be difficult to remember just how much joy being trans can bring us.

That's why the theme for our 2023 edition will be trans joy! Everyone who participates throughout the year will be asked to write something about their experiences of trans joy - these will then be compiled into Issue 2 of our annual magazine, to be released in November 2023.

We're looking for stories of trans celebration, belonging and empowerment. You can write about anything you like, from your favourite item of clothing to the supportive people in your life to the revelatory feelings that often come along with self-discovery.

Just fill in the form below to register your interest in taking part, and we'll get back to you with more information soon!

If you require an alternative format, video and audio submissions are also welcomed. Record yourself answering the questions below and send the file to, or upload the file to youtube and send us a link. If submitting via video/audio, please ensure that your audio is clear enough to be understood!

December 2023 Update: We are currently only accepting submissions from trans People of Colour within the Bristol area.

Thank you for submitting! Please be aware that this project currently runs on an entirely voluntary basis, so it may be a while before I can get back to you!
